Pahalgam is famous for its scenic beauty and is the jewel of the picturesque Liddar valley in the high Himalayas. It provides an ideal setting for hiking, trekking, and fishing. It is also the starting point of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Amarnath. The origin of Pahalgam is obscure. Mughal rulers ruled this region in the medieval period. It was later a part of the Kingdom of Kashmir, which local Hindu rulers ruled. This princely state remained independent even during the British period and later merged into independent India.

Aru Valley

Juxtaposed against the snow-covered Himalayan peaks, Aru Valley is an enthralling village in Kashmir. Located around 11 km from Pahalgam, it is the base camp for trekking to the Kolhoi Glacier and the Tarsar-Marsar Lake.

Betaab Valley

Betaab Valley is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pahalgam which is a breathtaking combination of picturesque surroundings encircled by tall deodar trees and pine forests, with the Lidder River flowing right through it.

Chandan Wari 

At 15 km from Pahalgam lies Chandanwari, the starting point of Amarnath yatra. You can enjoy snow sledding on a snow bridge here or have a picnic amidst nature. It is a place of immense religious and tourist significance.

Kolahoi Glacier

Located in the picturesque beauty of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lidder River is a 73-kilometre long glacial river that originates from the Kolhoi glacier. Flowing through the valleys of Pahalgam, Lidden River is a quaint picnic spot.

Lidder River

Skirting the small town of Pahalgam, the very beautiful Lidder river gushes through a lush landscape with a backdrop of the snow-capped Pir Panjal mountain range. Flowing through the Lidder valley, which has been named after it.

Baisaran Valley

Baisaran is a beautiful destination 6 kms away from Pahalgam. It is also called the mini Switzerland of India with tranquil meadows, pristine lakes and picturesque settings. You can just stroll down the area or sit down to have a picnic.
